Join us on Saturday, January 13, 2018 as we come together to protest, to sing; to take issue, to sing; to satirize, to sing; and to speak truth through singing!
Here’s the latest PSA (public service announcement) from WCPT 820 AM:
We are beyond happy to welcome our special guest artist Melanie DeMore, vocal activist, singer-songwriter, and choral conductor. Not only will Melanie be singing during the concert, but she is also leading a workshop during the day to show people how they can use their voices to express themselves and create change. The workshop is open to the public. Come!
DeMore has performed on stage with Holly Near, Pete Seeger, Odetta, Richie Havens, Linda Tillery, Judy Collins, and Laura Nyro, among many others.
The concert “Rise Up!” is at 7:00 pm at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston, Ill. The workshop is on the same day at ETHS from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you want to join us for the workshop (no previous singing experience necessary!), you need to register in advance by January 6. Here’s where you can register and buy tickets: riseup2018.brownpapertickets.com.
If you are only attending the concert, you can buy tickets in advance or at the door. There’s a range of price discounts for advanced sales, seniors, students, and kids.
