Artemis Visioning

We were fortunate this season to establish a relationship with the Arts & Business Council of Chicago (ABC) and to be paired by them with Jeanne C Busch and Robin Schuette, two outstanding members of ABC’s Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) program. With their guidance and encouragement, we spent a full day in January focused on our strategic direction. We learned about one another, our collective herstory, and some of our dreams for the future—quite appropriately following our Wildest Dreams concert.

We thank Jeanne, Robin, and the Arts & Business Council of Chicago for the 73 hours of volunteer consulting time, valued at nearly $11,000! We’ll be continuing to explore and grow from the work we started this season.

The Arts & Business Council’s consulting services, educational workshops, and board training and matching program are designed to help Chicago-area nonprofit arts organizations address managerial and organizational capacity needs. Artemis Singers is a 501(c)3 organization and is therefore eligible for this assistance.

Opportunity: Write a song for Artemis Singers!

Artemis is seeking to commission an original song – specifically, a feminist political song, related to or about lesbians. Artemis Singers will perform this song  during our 2017-18 season, as well as at the Sister Singers Network Festival.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a lesbian feminist woman composer with previous choral composition experience to get additional exposure for her talents, share an important message – and to receive payment for her work. We are looking outside the chorus for this work.

See more details here. Proposals are due September 1, 2016.
